ABOUT

What to Expect

Initial interview

Upon arrival to your home, your home performance advisor will conduct the initial interview allowing you to describe any problems that you are experiencing. Some of the most common problems that we find include the following:

  • High utility bills
  • Outside air infiltration, on going dust accumulation
  • Rooms that are hard to cool or heat, poor air circulation
  • Sweating windows, moisture, seal failure

In-home inspection and evaluation

One of our certified and trusted home performance advisors will complete an in-depth evaluation of your home's current performance and educate you with respect to energy, water, consumption, projects that will improve your quality of life and the cost efficiency of your home.

The home evaluation includes a visual inspection of every part of the home, including structure, doors, windows, walls, attic space, insulation, appliances, lighting, water, heating/air conditioning, pool, and landscape.

Testing includes a blower door test (to identify leaks in your home's envelope) and thermo graphic infrared scanning (to evaluate the flow of heat through your home and pinpoint potential problem areas).

Additional optional testing may include carbon monoxide testing for gas appliances.

At the end of the evaluation, your home performance advisor will provide a comprehensive list of recommendations to improve energy efficiency, comfort, and safety. At that time you will have the opportunity to choose the remedies you will perform yourself and/or what you may choose to have professionally done.
